Tony : This first thing that hits you about this beauty is the filling - cream and sugar. Lots of sugar. In fact, it's pretty much all sugar, I think the cream is really only there to hold the sugar together. Then there's the sponge which is generally quite light and soft (except when Steve feeds us an out-of-date one) and fairly sweet - probably some sugar in there I'd imagine. Finally the whole thing is rolled in - you guessed it - more sugar. Apparently there's some jam in there too but I can't say I've ever noticed it (isn't there yet more sugar in jam ?). These things never go stale, the sugar acts as a preservative and makes the whole thing pretty much indestructable (there's no truth to the rumours that the mice in the workshop are diabetic !). Plenty of calories to burn up in an evening's casting and strangely addictive, too ... 8/10

Steve : They are big. Not those pansy ones wrapped in foil you get in packs of 12. None of the gluten free/sugar free/real fruit nonsense. These babies mean business and they deliver. Very high sugar content - excellent - and a nice fluffy cake. Probably couldn't manage a whole one, but aren't cakes meant to be like that?. 8/10

Phil : TBD
