Aeronef is a very simple rules system with plenty of scope for adding new weapons systems, rules etc. Here are some of ours. Note that these rules are in no way 'official', but feel free to pick and choose what you do or don't want to use.

Forward Firing Guns

A very small number of vessels have armament that is predominantly biased towards firing forwards (the obvious example in the Brigade range is the L'Epee class Commerce Raider). The layout of the turrets and guns on these vessels doesn't lend itself to the normal dice distribution of Aeronef which is aimed at broadside vessels. Forward Firing Vessels therefore use a slightly different dice distribution. In the forward arc they get their full allocation of dice, in the side and rear arcs they get half their allocation. Construction points are unchanged. Although the vessels get their full dice allocation in fewer arcs, it could be argued that it's a more useful arc and therefore worth more.

Monitors

We have several models classed as 'monitors', or aero-craft which are fitted with guns for attacking ground targets. They are ideal for games of Land Ironclads in support of your surface forces.

In LI, Aeronef are only permitted to use one quarter of their gun dice when strafing ground targets. Conversely, craft designated as monitors may use their full gun dice against ground targets BUT only one quarter may be used when attacking aerial targets.

Spar Torpedoes

The Spar Torpedo is a fairly suicidal aerial weapon currently used only by those most desperate of adversaries, Sky Pirates. A craft designated as a Spar Torpedo vessel must manoeuvre so that it is within 2" of an enemy vessel, and the enemy vessel is in its front arc. It may then detonate the torpedo, causing 1d6 damage to the target (re-rolls apply on a '6'). If the die roll is '1' then the weapon is considered to have back-fired - the target still takes 1 damage point, but the carrying vessel takes 1d6 damage itself. The spar torpedo is a one shot weapon.
