Although the German Empire has any number of conventional ironclads (if any such device could be termed conventional !) they place great store in the power of their PanzerLandZug or armoured land trains. These huge, tracked, multi-compartmented behemoths form the core of any German thrust, surrounded by a gaggle of smaller ironclads and contraptions. LandZug range from two to six carriages, each with its own specialised purpose - command cars, engine cars, gun carriages or even catapult carriages carrying aircraft. The sight of the steel-grey slab-sides of an ArtillerieWagon has been known to send many a poilu running for cover, but never fear - the British soldier is made of sterner stuff !
