Well it has slowed a little, been pretty busy with work and Stocktake. But got back into the flow last night.

So I have 10 US Aeronefs on the table at the moment. Maryland Cruiser, 3 Hunley Torpedo Nefs & Tallahase Patrol Nef & Brooklyn Destroyer and 2 of each Frigate.

The substructure, windows, and decks are done. I have the sides to paint, as well as tail fins.

I have modified the Maryland, it is yet to be started.

Now for the smallest order, a sheet of US flags

It should take me to the end of the weekend to finish the USA. Then onto the Turks.

So I spent last night getting the British based. Well attached to the bases. I am using 40mm hexes laser cut in 3mm mdf. I plan to texture them to match the game mat, speaking of which I got confirmation that tha mat is ready and will be shipping on Monday. So it has three weeks to get here, Eric has advised around 12 days.

Oh and the rigging was done last night on the Benbow as well as the Rawalpindi. Not easy but boy does it add to the look.

I will be attaching the French to bases today, plus rigging. Then will get back to finishing the USA.

Hoping to have three fleets finished by Sunday. I will only do the texture on the bases once the Turks are done.

Well back to it

Hi,

Yeah rigging is a major pain, adding to the build time, but as you say, I really think it's worth the extra time as it does add to the period feel of the models. There are a huge array of techniques for doing this including stretched sprue, fishing fly lines and all sorts, but for scale appearance and sheer strength and ability to take the knocks on the table i use a simple cotton thread bought at my local knitware shop. Steel grey cotton attached with super glue gel.

Anyway good luck mon amie and looking forward to seeing the French all rigged up

Cheers j

Well an eventful day, didn't think I would get there, but got all 10 USA Aeronefs on the table done and even decided to start on the Batton Rouge Cruiser. That will be finished tonight.

Well here is the list of things to do:

To be painted:

1 x Batton Rouge Cruiser (completed)
1 x Abdul Aziz Class Battleship
2 x Assari Shevket Class Dig Destroyer
3 x Gemlik Class Frigate

Other tasks:

Labels for Bases
Basing & Texturing bases
Smoke & Fire
Torpedo Markers

Terrain:

2 Hills
2 Small Islands
A few city's
Some kind of military base
Coastal scenary

Game Aids:

Ship cards
Player aids

Scenario set up, maps and history

Well as you can see the list is huge and less than three weeks to go, to be more precise 18 days and counting

Now as I post these, please bear with me this is the first time I have even attempted rigging of anykind. I didn't want to go too overboard, yet I was trying to strike a fine balance.

So without any delay here are the 4 rigged up ships:

I will probably run a small amount of PVA glue through my fingers and run it down the line to try and smooth out the cotton.

Anyway hope they look good

Thanks Tony, wait till you see the bases done. Just working on the French err I mean Turkish Battleship. It will fly under French colors :D

Update:

Well I managed to finish the Abdul Aziz Class Battleship, tail fin is painted in French colors with the flag. The hull is done in a similar manner to the USA substructure and the substructure done in the same shade as the other French.

Update Two:

I managed to get the 3 x Gemlik Frigates done :D

So the only ones left to paint are the 2 x Assari Shevket Class Dig Destroyer. Just waiting for the last two bases to turn up in the mail.

So I should hopefully be posting the photos of the forced into French Service Turks tomorrow night.

The next challenge is the basing. This one will take some though about the concept of the bases.

So once the two last Nefs are done the next item on the menu:

Basing & Texturing 41 Aeronefs.
Creating the labels for the bases

With a little luck I should have these finished by Monday Night (NZ Time)

Then the biggest challange the Scenary.

Thanks Jon, I got confirmation that the Hotz Mat shipped on Monday. All going well should have it next Friday.

I started to play around with the bases last night / this morning. Come out not too bad.

I think that I have something that will work, just have to play around with the colors. I am loosing a couple of sessions on the weekend as we have the in-laws staying.

Still will be trying to get it all done by Monday. So new photos should be surfacing sometime next week. I worked out my base labels. Simple yet effective.

3 Days to the big reveal :D
