Well, the Eurofed is most definitely a finesse force--no bulling in with your head down (unless you feel like getting punted where it hurts). So, they need as much help as they can. I also like mixed platoons to a certain extent; I drew on Vietnam-era armored cavalry organizations, but mainly on current French mech-infantry trends.

And your line-up of variants would work admirably for the Catroux/Gamelin. I agree that we need some CEV/ARVs for the [rest of the] factions. A simply new turret with demo cannon, winch/hoist and possibly a MICLIC-device could do wonders (not to mention plows/dozers)...

But since we're here, why not add to Jav's original company team task-orgs?

German ONESS Panzergrenadier Company (Base cost = £16.25, - 10% = ~£14.5)
HQ Section (1x Lynx AC, 1 Lynx ATGM, 3x Lynx Command APC)
2x Mech Inf. PLT (3x Lynx APC, 1 Lynx HST, 1 Lynx Mortar, 12 Inf. figures)
1x Lt. Armor PLT (4x Baldur Light Tank)

OPTIONAL--add 1 Lynx ADV or replace ATGMV

Or how about a force with some new love?

Pacfed Patrol Force (Base cost = £22.25, - 10% = ~£20)
HQ Section (1x Komodo HBT, 1x Cougar MBT, 1x Tiger ADV, 2x Kakadu MLRS, 2x Bennelong HQV, 1x Bilby RV)
Tank PLT (2x Komodo HBT, 4x Cougar MBT, 1x Bennelong HQV)
Mech. Inf PLT (4x Wombat APC, 16x Inf figures)
Recce PLT (2x Quoll RV, 2x Minigwal FAV, 2 Angelshark VTOL)

More to follow...

Say, I wonder if these MTOEs would be better served on the new blog as opposed to a selection of "products" that would quickly overwhelm Brigade. For my part, I'm going to start looking into organizational constructs that only use what can be procured in the various Combat Teams.

Anyone else game?

Some interesting stuff there guys - you've all been busy ! So just how did I miss a thread like this going back months !?

Anyway, first bit of news is that our gaming club (Maidstone Wargames Society : ) are putting on a one-off 6mm demo' game using FWC at Salute 2010. The current plan is that this will see EuroFed Legion Etranger attacking an SAC-held city / spaceport. This is relevant because it means I've been developing a number of new variants for the Catroux, including a fire support vehicle with remote gun mount, mortar carrier, engineer vehicle and ambulance. No pics yet, the masters are with Phil being moulded but hopefully I'll have something to show during or just after the Xmas break. There's also a command version of the Javelot which will be ideal for use as an observer vehicle to represent an FAC or FAA, and a flat-bed transport on the same 10-wheel chassis as the Catroux / Gamelin.

Germy has made some new figures for us - you've probably seen the lovely Power Armour troopers () but he's also made four heavy weapons crew (I'm painting some up at the moment, so photos soon). To accompany these I've made four crew-served heavy weapons - I'm waiting to see how these come out of the moulds, Phil is concerned that one or two of the gun barrels are a bit thin to cast properly.

I've made a pair of EuroFed towed guns, one anti-tank gun and one infantry support gun - the barrels are the same as the ones on the Montsabert and support version. They are on the small side, and I'll be making a towing vehicle which will be something along the lines of an open-backed 6-wheel Javelot.

There's other stuff on the go too - variants of the German Woden, a Neo-Soviet heavy tank, more South Africans ... I promise plenty of pictures when the new masters have been moulded.

Onto the other main topic of this thread, company packs (and army lists). You probably saw a few more Company Packs go up last week. I'm trying to keep the contents of these packs as homogenous as possible and not mix too many vehicle types in them. Not all of our customers use the IC background and many buy the models to mix in with other manufacturers' models (heresy I know, but what can you do ...) so I suspect we'd sell far fewer of those than we do vanilla tank companies with 12 models all of the same type. And frankly they'd be a nightmare for us logistically, especially at shows !

However, I've been toying with the idea of proper organisations and army lists for the different nationalities. If anyone has played Ultra-Modern games and has come across the late Bruce Rea-Taylor's lists published by TTG, you'll know what I mean. These would impose a stricter set of limitations on the organisation of an army than the FWC lists do, so instead of buying an arbitrary number of tanks for your army, you'd have to buy them in complete companies (or at least complete platoons). It would also be a good way of reinforcing different national doctrines - CDSU and Neo-Sov armies would be much more rigid in organisation than say ONESS ones. I'll see if I can put together a sample one over the Xmas break.

Well, this thread certainly took off in the last day or two... :D

I will say that I am really enthused about fleshing out the nooks and crannies of IC military organizations. I also was thinking of the perhaps undesireable business aspect of having dozens of company packs (and how they relate specifically to the procurement habits of the average gamer).

I like the open-endedness of the IC universe (and how it meshes with my beloved DSII), but I won't lie: I have my own universe to attend to, and I'm a sucker for the [Hammer's] Slammerverse. I'd still by company packs (just ask Tony about that... ) though for value, and perhaps to add an element in or two for "free" that i wouldn't have otherwise bought on my own. And then again, if you mix a company-pack or two together, you might even come out ahead, with everything you needed and a bit more.

I also like the challenge of fitting other operational structures into my own universe for a variety of reasons. If any one person does all the thinking, all the resulting projects come out looking the same. So, I certainy echo Javelin's belief that this kind of thing is why I, at least, got into this hobby.

In any case, now that we have the grown-ups' attention, I look forward to where this project goes.

Oh...I fail to find the words to express my joy and astonishment at the potential new releases, such as the further Catroux variants (the 10-wheeled cargo truck is a "really need"), 6-wheeled Javelot, and the towed guns (!). All Germy's infantry is purely icing on the cake.

Of course, my bank-account, not done hemorraging from this holiday season (stil three weeks to go), is now entering full shock and systems failure. Drat...

Even without all the specialised packs we laid out on the previous page, one of the nice things about Brigade's store setup is that you can add individual pieces as necessary. Attaching an AA vehicle to a company pack, for example, can go a long ways towards giving your units that little special something.

As soon as I can get this Paypal issue straightened out, I'll be plunking down an order for some Neo-Sovs! My CDSU grunts will rue the day!

I'm bored. So, in honor of the new Legion Éntranger vehicles hitting the virtual shelves, here are some company pack ideas for that faction:

LE Troupe de Cavalerie Légère (Light Armored Cavalry Troop) (Base cost = £11.25, - 10% = ~£10.00)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
12x Catroux Armored Gun Systems
2x Catroux AA Vehicles

LE Compagnie de Chars (Tank Company) (Base cost = £11.25, - 10% = ~£10.00)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
12x Gamelin Wheeled Medium Tanks
2x Catroux AA Vehicles

LE Compagnie de Cuirassiers Blindée (Armored Infantry Company) (Base cost = £11.00, - 10% = ~£10.00)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
8x Catroux Wheeled APCs
4x Catroux Wheeled Missile Carriers
Infantry Pack

LE Compagnie de Missile Anti-Char (Antitank Missile Company) (Base cost = £6.75, - 10% = ~£6)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
8x Catroux Wheeled Missile Carriers

LE Escadron de Reconnaissance (Reconnaissance Squadron) (Base cost = £7.25, - 10% = ~£6.50)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
2x Catroux Engineer Vehicles
6x Javelot Dune Buggy with twin MGs
4x Javelot Dune Buggy with missiles

LE Compagnie de Génie D'assaut (Combat Engineer Company) (Base cost = £7.75, - 10% = ~£7.00)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
6x Catroux Engineer Vehicles
2x Gamelin Wheeled Medium Tanks
2x Lièvre Pickup Trucks

LE Batterie de Mortiers Blindés (Armored Mortar Battery) (Base cost = £8.25, - 10% = ~£7.50)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
6x Catroux Mortar Carriers
2x Musaraigne Observer Cars
4x Lièvre Pickup Trucks

LE Compagnie de Chasseurs à Pied (Light Infantry Company) (Base cost = £9.25, - 10% = ~£8.25)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
2x Infantry Packs
6x Infantry Mortars (no crews)

LE Compagnie de D'infanterie Anti-Char (Infantry Antitank Company) (Base cost = £8.25, - 10% = ~£7.50)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
6x CAC-41 Light Anti-tank Guns plus crews
6x Lièvre Pickup Trucks

LE Batterie de D'infanterie Tir (Infantry Gun Battery) (Base cost = £8.25, - 10% = ~£7.50)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
6x CI-55 Light Infantry Guns plus crews
6x Lièvre Pickup Trucks

LE Batterie de Mortiers D'infanterie (Infantry Mortar Battery) (Base cost = £7.75, - 10% = ~£7.00)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
8x Infantry Mortars with crews
6x Lièvre Pickup Trucks

LE Compagnie de Tirailleurs (Native Infantry Company) (Base cost = £9.25, - 10% = ~£8.25)
1x Catroux Command Vehicle
2x Infantry Packs
3x CI-55 Light Infantry Guns plus crews
3x CAC-41 Light Anti-tank Guns plus crews

Now if we had some VTOLs, we could add some Compagnies Étranger de Parachutistes!
