Welcome to the home page of Maidstone Wargames Society.

We are a small, friendly, society covering a range of periods; Ancients through Medieval, Napoleonic, ACW, 20th Century; on land, at sea, or in the air. We also regularly venture into deep space or to worlds of fantasy.

We are a pretty cosmopolitan bunch and anyone interested in other periods would be most welcome. There is usually at least one game open to any member at each meeting.

For the last few years we have held an Open Day where we throw wide our doors and put on a few games to showcase the club and hopefully attract new members. Readers of Miniature Wargames magazine may have seen a report by the editor of a previous event.

We aim to put on a demonstration or participation game at local shows with a new game being created every year. 2016's offering, a 3mm scale modern game entitled 'The Road to Homs '82', was a success on its first outing, winning Best Demonstration Game at Cavalier, followed by Best Scenery at SELWG later in the year. In 2017 we followed this with Fenris Descending, a 28mm sci-fi participation game which picked up two awards at SELWG, including Best Scenery again, and also featured in Miniature Wargames. 2018's game, 'Twisting the Dragon's Tail' depicting the 1918 Zebbrugge raid, has also been well received, winning awards at Cavalier, Salute and SELWG. For 2019 we put on a game depicting aerial combat in Central America, Dogfight '69, which also picked up an award at Cavalier. Most recently our latest game ,'Biggles at the Top of the World', picked up the Jim Clarke award for best SF game at the delayed Salute 20/21 show.

Campaigns currently underway include a series of WWI naval games aimed at recreating all of the significant actions of the war and an intermittent 20mm Vietnam campaign. A SAGA campaign is also in its early stages.

Also running is a hotly contested Field of Glory league with regular games going on almost every meeting. In the summer there is also a DBA Tournament for the more historically minded.

We meet from 10.00 to 17.00, on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, at a new venue, Linton Village Hall, Linton Hill (A229), Maidstone. The club is happy to accept visitors and new members, although at the moment we're asking you to contact us before coming along. For further information please phone club secretary Brian Simons on (0780) 3009504, or you can contact him via e-mail.
