As seen here, Barrage Balloons are available in 1/1200 scale (albeit from a different company for the time being). I'm wondering what effect a battalion might have in a Aeronef and/or LI game. Anyone feel up to making some suggestions about rules?

"The provincial barrages in each district were to be organised into Auxiliary Air Force Balloon Squadrons, comprising 24 balloons each. The squadrons further being sub-divided into 3 Flights of 8 balloons each,..."

Are you using altitude rules? I could see a value in them if you were and had a Nef or Stat making a low level bombing run or a monitor looking for a low level shelling. With altitude rules, the balloons would force them up higher or risk a collision, but you'd need to integrate accuracy of bombing/shelling as it relates to altitude....

For Land Ironclads, you could use them as observation balloons for artillery fire (I don't know what LI artillery rules are, if any, my first order and rules in en route as I type).

Without altitude, how about a stationary gun platform or torpedo platform, maybe around a bridge, factory, or some other valuable location?

BTW - They're a nice find.

I think I may just use them to 'decorate' some objective markers. Real world usage of these, if I understand correctly, was more of a shield. The use as part of an observation also gives away one's location, as they are tethered to the ground team.
