{"id":4122,"date":"2014-07-14T08:00:38","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T07:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/?p=4122"},"modified":"2014-07-13T14:09:19","modified_gmt":"2014-07-13T13:09:19","slug":"painting-15mm-germans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/2014\/07\/painting-15mm-germans\/","title":{"rendered":"Painting 15mm Germans"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fcbkbttn_like \"><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/2014\/07\/painting-15mm-germans\/\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\" layout=\"standard\"  width=\"450px\" size=\"small\"><\/fb:like><\/div><\/div><p>Following on from the post I wrote about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/2014\/05\/behind-the-mask\/\" title=\"Behind the Mask\">painting the 15mm Brits<\/a> in two-colour camouflage, I&#8217;ve been asked to do the same for the Germans in their three-colour ambush-style scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Whereas the blutack masked scheme can be achieved with spray cans, this one does require an airbrush &#8211; you just can&#8217;t get the same level of control or accuracy with a spray can.<\/p>\n<p>So here we go, a dozen (or so) steps to a three-colour camo&#8217; scheme. Nowadays I use a slightly more expensive primer than I used to, it&#8217;s important to get good adhesion and provide a base for the acrylic colours. This is one of the new Citadel &#8216;Dry&#8217; paints, which have the consistency of soft putty and are great for drybrushing (although murder on your paint brushes). This is brushed on, making sure it gets in every crack and crevice. A tip is to put some sort of cover over them &#8211; the dip is very sticky and seems to attract dust, grass, small insects etc &#8211; and once it starts to go off, you won&#8217;t get any foreign objects out of it without marring the finish. The AP dip is a good surface for decals, being nice and shiny, so I gave it some old-style Maltese crosses and numbers from the excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.domsdecals.com\/\">Dom&#8217;s Decals<\/a> range. The crosses are 1\/300th aircraft markings, the numbers are 10mm vehicle numbers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"4137\"
