{"id":5653,"date":"2015-07-27T22:30:51","date_gmt":"2015-07-27T21:30:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/?p=5653"},"modified":"2015-07-27T22:11:25","modified_gmt":"2015-07-27T21:11:25","slug":"back-on-home-soil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/2015\/07\/back-on-home-soil\/","title":{"rendered":"Back on Home Soil"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fcbkbttn_like \"><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/2015\/07\/back-on-home-soil\/\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\" layout=\"standard\"  width=\"450px\" size=\"small\"><\/fb:like><\/div><\/div><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/2015\/07\/holiday-time-2\/\">Holiday time<\/a> is sadly over and today it&#8217;s back to normal &#8211; although since I spent yesterday at a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ramblinmanfair.com\/\">music festival<\/a>, there may be a minor hangover to deal with first (I&#8217;m writing this post in advance so the exact quantity of local cider consumed is yet to be determined&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>First priority is the remainder of the orders that Phil was unable to finish, then some rather dull stuff like last quarter&#8217;s VAT return. So don&#8217;t expect too much exciting output from us in the first half of the week.<\/p>\n<p>On previous holidays I&#8217;ve managed to come back with some inspiration for new models, which have ended up in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/SmallScaleScenery\/index.html\">Small Scale Scenery<\/a> range &#8211; last year it was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/SmallScaleScenery\/Items\/SSS-8029.html\">St Mawes Castle in Falmouth<\/a>, the previous year some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brigademodels.co.uk\/Blog\/2014\/07\/coastal-guardians\/\">C.19th French coastal forts<\/a>. Last week we went to Mallorca, one of the Spanish Balearic islands in the Western Mediterranean. Renowned as a tourist destination, there&#8217;s a great deal of history that I wasn&#8217;t aware of. The coastline is littered with small watchtowers, used to keep watch for pirates, but the most remarkable fortification is <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bellver_Castle\">Bellver Castle<\/a> which overlooks the capital, Palma. Built in the C.14th by King James II of Majorca, it has a fairly unique circular design which withstood several seiges and ended up as a prison.
