Following on from our preview of the digital models of the Royal Space Navy a little while back, we’ve completed the last of the modelling and are pretty much ready to get the masters printed. We’re waiting on a sample print of the light cruiser just to make sure everything looks about right, then we’ll be sending the final versions off for prototyping.
There are several new models in addition to the initial set; firstly the Fisher class Dreadnought, a very rough draft of which has been lurking in our forums for ages. This newer version takes its styling from the other models with the addition of lots of turrets. There are several options for the chin weapon mount, including a short flight deck for a fighter squadron or two.
The next new ship is the Majestic class carrier. This is based on the battleship lower hull and engines.
And if there’s a carrier, there have to be fighters – these are as yet unnamed, but we’re very likely to draw on traditional British fighter aircraft to name them. They may not look super-detailed, but don’t forget they’re only 8-9mm long.
Finally, some unique to the British fleet, a mine warfare vessel – it both detects and sweeps mines using the phased array antennae on the hull front, and has the capacity to lay mines from the port and starboard mine ejection hatches.
We’re still looking at a Salute release if all goes well.
They’re nice enough, but where’s the German dread? March already and still no sign of the big brick. Can’t very well do Jutland in Space without the Pommerania.
Had some problems with the hulls – the vents on the side are slightly damaged (we didn’t notice when the master went in the mould) so I need to repair the models before we can make the master mould. Shouldn’t be too long
Well, better late than never. That part of the commission will just have to wait a bit, I guess.
Then you will be pleased with the late Easter gift then 🙂
Wow with those new hull we can produce the Canadian space fleet par of the British commonwealth

There’s a real Zeta class fighter !?
Did it equip Welsh squadrons?
Andy
I don’t know about the Welsh. Odds are, the weight of having all those extra “L”‘s and “Y”‘s on the fuselage would have brought the plane down.
Well… no, not really. It was a Royal Flying Corps airship prototype. I just thought the name was extremely cool for a space fighter!
Oh these are looking great!
Mention of the Pommerania and the Mine Carrier/Sweeper actually finalises my thoughts on using them in the GZG universe while including a British touch to the whole deal – The “Physical Asset Retention Deaprtment” of one of the largest megacorporations in Known Space, Mogul Interstellar; With its base products being petrochemicals and synthesis thereof, Mogul Interstellar has interests in rare earth mining, power generator construction and various of industries that require holding areas such as gas giants, asteroid fields and some entire star systems for exploitation, particularly when local governors of the NAC or other supranationals decide they need more materials for the latest war effort and want to retain their credit rather than pay Mogul for it.
My old-school Pommerania becomes a CEO Class SDN/Mobile Headquarters under this scheme . . . I like it!
Almost enough to forget to point out the 6mm Indonesians are not out as suggested. . . . 🙂
We’re nearly there with the Indonesians – I’ve been grinding through the mind-numbing task of cleaning up castings for the production moulds, while Phil’s been making the first of said moulds. Any week now …
